Invesis consortium Wâldwei.com has successfully handed back the management and maintenance of the N31 motorway between Leeuwarden and Drachten in the Netherlands to client, Rijkswaterstaat.
Invesis was awarded the design, build, finance and maintenance (DBFM) project in 2003, and following construction went on to operate and maintain the project for the next fifteen years; with many of the people involved in the project at the tender stage still involved at the end of the concession and handback.
The handback ceremony took place on the 13 December 2022 and centered around the theme “19 years of successful Partnership”, which was representative of the positive feeling of all parties involved.
After the official handover ceremony at the aqueduct, a mini symposium was organised to discuss this theme and the future of DBFM in the Netherlands. Around 80 people who currently work for the project or have worked for it in the past attended this event.
At the start of the day Otto Beuving, who has worked for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management contractor for 19 years and who was responsible for the daily service provision of the road, was honoured with a street named after him at the location of the service station. His contribution was highly appreciated by the Client and consortium partners.
