N25 New Ross Bypass
The background
Major road infrastructure investment in Ireland’s South-East region was required to relieve chronic traffic congestion and future proof the region’s economy. In 2013, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) launched a road infrastructure PPP programme to tackle existing bottlenecks and address significant traffic delays.
Commuters travelling through New Ross and the surrounding area faced delays of up to 30 minutes, which caused major disruption to the transportation of goods and services to the local communities. The N25 New Ross Bypass, that forms part of the Trans-European Network-Transport (TEN-T) was delivered to reduce journey times and improve the quality of life for those within the surrounding areas.
The N25 New Ross Bypass was perceived to be an incredibly complex project due to its design brief and construction requirements. Therefore, a trusted partner who had a strong presence in the Irish market and extensive road infrastructure experience was required. TII awarded N25 New Ross Bypass DAC – an Invesis and Iridium Concesiones de Infraestructuras S.A. joint venture – the PPP contract to successfully design, build, finance and maintain (DBFM) the key transport link in 2014.
Due to the lifecycle approach of the PPP model and excellent relationships formed between the joint venture and the client, the N25 New Ross Bypass is now a high quality, fully operational asset, that has substantially improved journey times for commuters.

Business value
The N25 New Ross Bypass landmark structure landmark structure – the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Bridge – holds the record for the longest concrete extradosed bridge in the world.
The bridge was designed following stringent Eurocodes and the Irish National Annexes. Invesis and Iridium Concesiones de Infraestructuras S.A worked collaboratively with the client, designers, and our selected development partners to meet guidelines whilst ensuring the design of the project aligned with the client’s costs and brief.
Through fostering collaborative relationships with multiple external parties and the client, Invesis were able to support TII in delivering a vital piece of infrastructure that is enhancing local communities, improving road safety and supporting the future economic growth of Ireland.
