Job description

This role is primarily focused on three key areas: the internal health and safety of 120 employees, advising internal stakeholders on the health and safety implications of potential investments, and supporting project delivery teams in ensuring the health and safety standards of the existing portfolio of investments are met and maintained.

Safety Leadership

  • Provide leadership for Health & Safety across Invesis, supporting the Management Board and Business Unit MDs in their safety leadership roles.
  • Ensure continual review and implementation of industry best practices.
  • Advise on HS&W elements in strategic business planning.
  • Promote a culture of responsibility and accountability for H&S within Invesis.
  • Encourage colleagues to develop their own safety leadership profiles.

Safety Management System

  • Manage and improve the accredited health and safety management system – Flourishing through Safety (FtS).
  • Maintain external accreditation ISO45001:2018.
  • Advise and support Invesis staff on HS&W management systems, procedures, and policies.

Wellbeing

  • Advise the HR team on HS&W matters.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure an ongoing focus on wellbeing and wellbeing initiatives. Collaborate and support the wider ESG team in the development and delivery of the strategy, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the wider ESG and the health, safety, and wellbeing function internally and externally.

HS&W Delivery to Colleagues

  • Act as the HS&W advisor for the company.
  • Ensure compliance with local HS&W laws and regulations.
  • Advise line managers and duty holders on maintaining good standards.
  • Improve awareness and standards of HS&W through initiatives, events, and training.
  • Support and advise the HR team in developing and implementing the Flourishing @Work strategy through positive staff engagement, authentic leadership, and progressive policies.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance staff wellbeing through various activities and initiatives.

Concession Management

  • Monitor HS&W performance of all assets and concessions where Invesis has an interest.
  • Ensure HS&W services meet required standards and are consistent across the company.
  • Support project delivery teams in collaborating with various stakeholders, including contractors, local governments, and communities, to ensure H&S standards are met and maintained.
  • Improve HS&W practices within Origination and Project Delivery.
  • Support our project delivery teams in using the Invesis concessions application for safety inspections and incident monitoring.
  • Drive ongoing development of the concessions application together with Invesis IT team and the external service provider.

Business Development & Bidding

  • Advise and support Origination teams, including Business Development and Bid Management.
  • Evaluate potential consortia partners and assets for HS&W performance.
  • Evaluate potential investments for compliance with local and international health and safety standards.
  • Advise on H&S risks and potential mitigations for new markets, sectors, and Core+ opportunities.

HS&W Reporting

  • Monitor H&S performance by setting standards for H&S reporting across the business.
  • Identify relevant KPIs for mandatory and voluntary reporting.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards for H&S reporting.

 

Person Specification:

What are we looking for?

Proven experience in a senior health and safety role driving change across large organisations, ideally from an investment, ‘client side’ or Principal Contractor environment

Education and Training

  • Degree in a relevant field (engineering, construction, surveying, etc.) or relevant professional qualification or membership.
  • Recognised health and safety practitioner qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent).
  • Commitment to personal development and learning.

Experience

  • Experience (3-5 years) in H&S management and delivery in a corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure (PPP) projects (preferred, not required).
  • Experience in maintaining and improving safety management systems, including those requiring external accreditation.
  • Leadership experience in health, safety, and wellbeing.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Enthusiasm for, and detailed knowledge of, the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing legislation.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to carry out H&S audits.
  • Ability to present information concisely and engagingly.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of Dutch and/or German is an advantage).

The role will include working with Business Units on the setting and delivery of annual HS&W objectives including training, improvements in safety culture, safety visits and the delivery of HS&W services to concessions.  In addition, you will also work with Invesis’ HR Business Partner to ensure the HS&W component of our Flourishing@Work programme complements and supports overall flourishing objectives and targets.
