Bunnik, The Netherlands, 21 August 2009 – Ghent University has awarded the PPP-project Kantienberg-Overpoort in Ghent to BAM. The project includes design, building, financing and maintenance of approximately 650 student apartments and an underground parking, as well as redevelopment of the university restaurant at the Overpoort. For BAM this DBFM contract has a value of approximately €100 million. Contractual close and financial close are due to be reached in October.
The apartment building is designed by Huiswerk architects in Antwerp. The first apartments will be ready in 2011. The project will be completed in 2012.
For this project BAM PPP (the operating company of Royal BAM Group, specialised in public-private partnerships) is working in close collaboration with its Belgian sister company CEI-De Meyer.
